If you told the robbing ******* where to shove it, you could try Cray Valley Heat treatment. just off J3 (M25).

No quite polite, I might end up there another time...
Think I am sorted, someone from the forum is going to get them done.
I am wondering about heat treating stuff myself, I haven't considered an
oven as it all seemed to much hassle, but it is probably worth it.

depends what you want to treat... if its flat/round bar and you just want to case harden, then a decent propane torch and some case hardening compound and a copy of this book

I have tried kasenit, my grandad used to case stuff in the kitchen range using it. I might
still have his can of the stuff; I take it carbon and bicarb doesn't have a sell by date;-)
The gearbox is full of new parts, and I am wary of varying from what was stock, I was tempted
to make a spacer fram gauge plate, then harden it and temper it in the oven. I could buy a new part,
but the supplied part is 24 thou to thin and the best way of setting the endfloat in this case is a
spacer/shim of the right thickness.
Might get that book, I love a nice book.
