Just been stripping all the old boards out my latest project, and figuring out where to put the new ones boards.
This is the original set-up-

Now in that set-up, the motor controller is next to the main controller board, however given the level of technology involved, I doubt if noise/interference was an issue.
With the new set-up, I'll be using a Smoothstepper attached to a CNC4PC C23 BOB, which takes up most of the room from the bottom right corner along to the main capacitors, and a KBIC speed controller, and Gecko G251s.
Will mounting the KBIC controller next to the BOB or geckos cause any problems?
I'm currently planning on using the existing unsheilded wire for the steppers/240V wiring, and use sheilded wiring for any signal wiring.

I would have thought it would be OK. Keep wiring neat and orthogenal and dont mix high voltage and/or stepper wiring with signal wiring. As a rule I would route power/motor along the top and signal along the bottom, and try to lay things out so the path is from low to high power as you traverse the box.

Cheers.
My aim is to have all the high voltage run along the top of the cabinet in that photo (which is actually the bottom once the cabinet gets folded back-up), and the low voltage along the bottom.
If it wasn't for the fact I'm using the C23 board, I'd probably reorganise things a bit better, but it's a big board, and combined with the Smoothstepper, it takes up pretty much half the height of the cabinet from the capacitors along to the cooling fan, so it's a case of fitting things around it.
In hindsight, I should of probably ordered a G540 instead of G251s :-/
