    I was but aparently there is no standard colour code for the wires got the nema 23 size ones infront of me and they have 6 wires
    these are BL,G,R,B conected to the board A+,A-,B+,B- white and yellow not used at all
    I can follow a wireing diagram but as to the indeph tecnical stuff with electirkery I am a bit fooked
    Jonathan gave me the ides to turn the power down on the controler board which has worked
    they have been running the roadrunner for 2 hours and only luke warm now
    as for bipolar ECT just dont know as the wireing crapagram dont actualy say which is which
    Any help M8 ?

    The way you have it connected is probably the best. The other way would be what's called 'half coil' which, as the name suggests, only uses two out of the 4 coils in the motor. You'd then use the center white/yellow wires and BL / R. That, I think, would get the motors going faster - but with much less torque since the magnetic field is smaller due to using less coils. If I recall correctly the manual for the stepper drivers I use explains it:

    Before you were using 3.5 amps, now 3 amps so since power lost is I^2*R, that's 3^2/3.5^2 = 73% of the heat you had before.
