Hi,

For some strange and unfathonable reason I've decided to build a CNC machine. It was something to do with routing custom pc boxes by hand but more probably just because I like to tinker and have 2 1/2 hours free every afternoon with nothing better to do.

I had a large pile of MDF left over from previous exploits so decided to do the "buildyourownCNC" project as a starter for 10 (please now post comments telling me what a bad mistake this was).

I've built the base so far and just starting on the bearings & gantry. I've gone for 12x3 trapezoidal lead and am just starting to look at fittings for that (and wishing they weren't quite so dear...).

I'm going to scan the forums for tips & tricks but also willing to take advice from anyone with more experience than me - so, just about anybody.

My new aim for the machine is to turn out a 1st set of parts for a RepRap printer. Let's see huh?
