Thread: Hello! from Scotland

Hello everyone! This is the first forum I've signed up for, and this is my first post.
I'll be hoping for advice & info (I know what I'm doing, but I'm willing to take a second opinion on it !-) for a proposed new build of a moving gantry machine...
...4 feet square working area (to take 1/2 sheet size), and Z of 4 - 6"....and I'll be running it with EMC(2)
Still at the contemplation/consideration stage at the moment - a wee bit away from listing and ordering parts and materials, just yet!"Just because Innovation is not universally accepted is not, in itself, proof of Superiority of Convention"

taking your time is better than re-working a poor design and its sooooooo easy to miss something obvious when your juggling so many options
its worth posting your ideas so we can pull them to bits
good luck :)

Hi Mark! Thanks for the (encouraging :-) response... and congratulations on being the first reply to my first post on the first forum I've joined. That's why I'm here - to post my ideas for destructive criticism - pull them to bits, by all means; I expect it'll save me the bother of doing it myself, a few times over!
FMI: If I understand the forum concept, this is where I should start a new thread on the 'New Build' string thingy - is that right?
Cheers,

Thanks James, (above) and Jonathan, (above above); I expect this project will cost a lot - I have budgeted for, and saved up, a four-figure sum for starters, so the 'wedge' is on hand (just pass the hammer :-).
Cheers, chaps!"Just because Innovation is not universally accepted is not, in itself, proof of Superiority of Convention"

we want full documentation photos and video on the blood snot and heart ache of the whole event
its a lot of work and it can be a nightmare at times but watching your machine spring into life and carve a super accurate component for the first time is mind bogglingly satisfying :)
