Well folks have found a program that basically allows you to draw in vector graphics and work with polygons with Imperial and Metric system and convert between them. It allows you to save in a variety of formats which can be imported by more serious CAD for generating code or possibly straight into Mach 3 (haven't tried that yet). It is called Inkscape and you can find it here http://www.inkscape.org/ .
I am using it with BobCAD as it allows the wife who has many years experience in graphic arts production and building ads/layout for publishing for clients to fiddle with designs both for the website and also for parts/shapes dealing with my the musical instruments I am building. As if I give her the idea and demensions of what I am after, I get a very good rough draft i can go back and do finish work on easily.
Take a look and see what you think.
