Hi folks,

Just recently joined the forum. Hoping to get my first router/milling machine built some time in the next 6 months. It'll mostly be used for cutting aluminium, copper, sheet steel etc and possibly MDF, Plywood in the future. Loads of research/design to do yet though.

Whilst I find my way around the forum any pointers you folks can give me with regards to designing a machine strong enough will be very much appreciated. I'm looking at a working area of around X600 x Y1200 x Z200 mm.

I've already got my first project for the machine in mind, building a case/box for a DIY CD Player in 10mm thick aluminium plate. I dabble with electronics too, mostly HI-FI kit building and the odd PSU. Nowhere near clever enough to design my own electronics stuff though.
