    Smart and Brown lathes come up occasionally on ebay for £500 - £2000, some of the best lathes ever made and would cost as much a house new. Downside is you have to figure out how to transport a ton and half of iron to your shed, which is why they are always cheap...

    You can always check on Lathes for lathes specs and they also have a for sale board.
