Thread: x-axis on Orac losing direction

Hi everyone!
Tried to start my Orac this morning after SD2 drive repaired and tested and noticed new problem...X-axis losing direction.
Personally I do not consider myself as capable locating the faulty part or whatever may have caused this.
Any ideas gents of how to proceed?
Thanks!

Asto what software are you running with it and what settings do you for the motors. As much detail as possible?
If the nagging gets really bad......Get a bigger shed:naughty:

Try swapping the X and Z drives over.

I've done that John S and with Z-axis both drives look to work fine.
Settings Swarfing? I will check with that tomorrow.
I should have checked the ball screw for running free before I proceed with the electronics and settings.
This idea just crossed my mind.
The lathe stayed still for 5 years.
cheers
