Hi Bubba thanks for your reply's .. the part I'm using is RS-Part is it still the same layout ? Only the picture of the board Ian did looks like it follows the same tracks in real life ? if your right then what looks like the center pin is the right pin ?

    fivetide,
I looked at your schematic to find the part number BD139 and then did a google on that number. This is an industry standard part number. HOWEVER, I just looked up the part number you referenced above and it is a 2N3904.
Now looking at its pinout, and I can see the confusion!. It indeed does have the base in the center pin! You need to change the part no in your schematic to the correct one for the transistor that you have.
Here is the url to the cut sheet that I have ref'd:

Thanks Bubba, lol I love your name ! in fact I ended up watching one of my all-time favourite moves late last night, Forest Gump, because of the BubbaGump Shrimp thing !

Anyway onwards and upwards .. I’m now (because I’m a noob to electronics) struggling with finding the Recom R-788 0-1.0 and R-&8b5 0-1.5 or something similar to put on the board .. any ideas what I can use from the eagle cad libraries ? there’s only really those two parts all the rest is wiring to them.

I am not familiar with either one of those devices so can't really help you. I did find a while back on youtube a tutorial on how to build up your own devices for eagle. So far, my success at doing this is limited (I am new to Eagle). There is also a yahoo group that deals with Eagle and you might check into that and see if anybody has done what you need.
As for the moniker, many years ago several of us that worked together had a project manager who called everybody bubba. Well, I lived in the country and another lived in the city so that is how we got distinguished when he called for bubba! LOL

  8. generally when working with Eagle I try to avoid specific parts for passive components unless there is a good reason. for resistors i generally use the library template for a generic 1/4w metal film which gives a suitable hole spacing. otherwise you can waste hours trying to match manufacturers parts to the library....
