Hi everyone,
I'm just setting out building my first CNC. It's going to be a wood (and maybe Al) router, small enough to fit into the largest (146L) Really Useful Box. I hope to get a working area of around A3 paper size, and Z travel of a couple of hundred mm. It's mostly going to be built with off-the-shelf bits and Al profile.
No machining experience, although I do know my way around a router and a table saw. By trade I've been a computer programmer and IT support guy, so should be fairly good with that stuff. I'm also comfortable with electronics, although I couldn't design a circuit of any complexity, and my hand is too shaky for much soldering these days.
BTW, I'm a middle-aged guy living in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.
Chris.
