Hi All
Just wondering what is the best way of stopping aluminium swarf becoming a rats nest on the lathe. Currently I am using Sumitomo tips/toolholder and I get a great finish with no chip weld. No problem with free cutting bar stock. I have been running parts using 6082 (Diameter 32mm) and it becomes a real rats nest during the rough turning cycle and rough boring cycle.
1500 rpm and 150mm/min feed rate gives a great finish but I can't get it to break the chip
Any suggestions.
