No don't go higher on the fuse else you risk damage. I'm currently setting up a machine with AM882 and running 1A fuse for safety while testing without blowing fuses so you have a problem some where Dan.
Go over all the wiring again and check connections. You will have a problem somewhere that isn't obvious.
I've built many control boxs now and still I get problems and just today I've spent 5 hours chasing an issue that turned out to be a simple 0v wire in wrong place so it will be something daft like this. Go over every thing with a fine tooth comb.
