Found this on Indestructables.
Looks like quite a nice build.
Any comments on the design?

A respectable starter / mid performance machine, and fine for wood plastics etc.
He mentioned machining aluminium - ok for engraving but it would not be suitable for accurate machining:
Single ballscrew on X (racking)
Limited bed support causing workpiece deflections (due to single ballscrew design)
Very high gantry sides (tool deflection/vibration)
Gantry cross member on the small side (tool deflection/vibration)
Kress spindle (run out?, plus noisy)
Z axis plate too thin (10mm?)

It does look like a very tidy build and yes, well documented.
Results look pretty good - the Aston badge has come out well. You'd have to say that it's perfectly capable working at the lighter end of fabrication. Almost definitely will struggle to hold accuracy with thicker cuts, but crikey - ain't that every DIYer's story..?
I did find myself vigorously itching my chin reading this bit, though:
"To get all guiderails perpendicular and parallel to each other they were all aligned with a dial indicator (with a maximum difference of 0,001 mm)."
Really? On that frame?
Interesting that he hasn't fitted limit/home switches. Otherwise a pretty and a decent build. Good on him.

Very neat design for what it is and he/she done well on such a low budget.I echo a lot of routercnc improvements I also think single block bearings may not resist the leverage that the tall gantry is going to apply to them but hey the sample pieces look great and this diy machine is a lot better than the offering from some pretty big companies and kickstarter ventures.
