5 axis desktop machine Kickstarter

Hi everyone,


We have been working on a 5 axis desktop machine with a large working volume and capability to use different tool heads: from milling spindle to 3d printing head to touch probe.

We are launching a Kickstarter campaign on September 22nd to fund the last stage of development.

This machine uses Mach3 controller and we are developing a CAM script in Grasshopper that works on Rhino. The script is free and open source you can download current version from http://5axismaker.com/software/ ( you need both Rhino3d and Grasshopper to run it ).

We would appreciate any comments or questions from the community.

Hi . well done for making such a great product can see this being very useful to many with various projects.
I am currently in the process of looking for a new machine and this maybe just what im looking for.
what types of material have you machined successful. I'm in no means looking it the big depths of cuts etc.

Deisel and Lukecnc2012 thank you for your comments. We have tested blue foam, modelling board, delrin and hardwood, the milling tool-head is still under development but we expect that it would handle anything up to hardwood but this machine is not designed to mill hard stuff like metals or stone.

Since many of us have, or are in the process of building, CNC machines have you thought about selling just the 4th and 5th axis so we could attach it to our machines?

very interesting and well made.
I especially like that you're thinking about the software . There have been multiple 5 Axis projects in the past that all solely concentrated on the mechanics and ultimately failed because there was no affordable und usable software for it.
