BT are also due to roll out fiber as well.
I spoke to virgin the day i posted the above, while he was upgrading me to a 20mb line i asked him if they have any plans to upgrade the lines from each house to the street box, he said to deliver the 100mb - 200mb connections they would have to. But not to expect anything for another 5 years !.Me

I have been on 20 mb for some time , have you tested you speed yet (mine is about 13/14 meg on a good day) and have you orderd a new modum if you are using the surfe board from motorola, a lot I have read says it's not up to it and that will help get your speed up when changed, they are rolling out new modems but it may take a long time if you dont shout.

My friends in the Planning Office at BT tower tell me that they are addressing the slow speed problem by moving the equipment out to the road side boxes. That's those dark green boxes 1m x 1m x thick, that get covered in brightly coloured posters advertising the latest DJ event.
He thinks that by next year end this will have been implemented (providing the boys can get the box open with all the posters glued over the locks). that should give me a spped boost up to about 6 - 7 Mbs
