Thread: Machining thin Balsa
-

Afnoon all.... I have a challenge from a customer where I will need to machine some Balsa wood which is 3mm thick.
Small heart shapes, not many around 20 but are there any "Gotchas" I need to be aware of /
Currently using LH 2mm 2 flute cutters at 18000rpm and around 1200mm min... Toofast or what ?
Cheers
RobIf you can't fix it with a hammer you've got an electrical problem !

Long time since I did balsa ( prefer liteply) but biggest problem was furry edges / slightly ripped edges which needed cleaning up

You could always lasercut it :)
