As for performace, all i will say is that in my own experience it work very well. I am hoping others less biased will also chime in here.

The point to make though is that the value for money is very good on these boards.

My bias isn't based on performance or price it's based on expereince with software and the company that produce that software.! Warp 9.
The software plug-in for any motion controller is key and if it's not supported well enough by the supplier then it's bad news. For instance Mach3 is coming to the end of it's days and yet still Warp9 haven't fixed loads of the issues or implemented features that should have been many years ago, like Lathe mode. For god sakes it's still in affect in beta version.!!
Thou in fairness not all this is Warp 9's fault and some of the blame falls with Artsoft. But still Greg at Warp 9 is far to slack and slow with updates or fixes and IME doesn't really give a shit.!!. . . Takes lots of people jumping up n down to get anything fixed or implimented and even then it's when he can be bothered.!

Performance wise the ESS works great with a decent breakout board attached.
Price wise it's fair but when spending this much money with such a specialised piece of hardware who's performance is so closely linked to the software that is the brains of the outfit then the whole picture should be considered in my experience.!!

Would I use or buy one YES I do buy and use them.! . . . . Is it my first choice Hell no.! It's a reluctant and close second to purelogic and in both cases only when I can't use Cslabs stuff for cost reasons.!
