On a similar topic, what fluids do I use? The stuff in there looks old, ideally would like to replace it.

Provided the pump head is submerged, it should pump. Can you see if the rotor itself is turning?

Fluid depends on what you'll be machining. There's not a coolant that is ideal for everything, but there are some that are generally good on most things.Avoiding the rubbish customer service from AluminiumWarehouse since July '13.
