They will be fine, but you can change the micro stepping along with the other settings to keep the scale right and probably get rid of the music.

I currently have all axes set to 1/8 micro stepping. I have AM882 drivers and Nema23 4.2A 3.2mh from CNC4YOU. In Mach3 I've got Velocity on 2500mm/min and acceleration set to 800mm/s/s on all axes.

It's weird because when the Z axis moves slowly (for example, approaching the surface for cutting), it doesn't make that sound. It seems like sometimes Mach3 is able to control the steppers at low speed without having them sing, while at other times they sing like a choir.

Reducing the MCS would lower accuracy right ?

Still trying to workout if your taking the Piss or serious.?

If your serious then how the hell can we tell if the sound your hearing is normal or not if you don't let us hear it.?

Yes steppers do change pitch with different speeds but again to what degree depends on other factors like feeds n speeds and resonance of machine.

As Dean says, the steppers will make noises at low rpm. I suspect due to your machines construction, it is acting like a sound box amplifying whatever the stepper noise is. If it is annoying, try a higher microstep.

That stands after watching your video. It is working like an acoustic guitar if you will. You motors do not sound too bad otherwise. The squeaking though? Lubrication needed on the rails?

Yes, i've got put some WD40 in there with a bit of grease :) The machine cuts quite well, I've made a temporary dust shoe out of ply wood that looks awesome. I've got a few problems but I will discuss this in another thread :) Just received my inductive home switches and my 3D printer will be delivered today so I can make their holders. I've got a lot of things to improve on the machine :)

That's right, the main gantry is constructed with a torsion box, so it's like an acoustic box as you say :)
