If you can find one the Connect CNC desktop milling machines are compact and have the precision, I suspect that most ex-educational CNC mills will suffice.
Are you dead set on CNC or have you considered a pantograph? I still use My IM3 for some things as it's quick and easy to set up for text.You think that's too expensive? You're not a Model Engineer are you? :D
