Hi there,
I'm looking for a couple of small parts machining out of some walnut.
Modelled in CAD, the files are ready to go but I've not been able to find anywhere commercially that can do the small job. The body part measures 160x100x37mm and the top part measures 150x90x5mm and I'd need 2 of each.
The complex part, I guess, is machining 4 faces of the body part.
I have the wood on it's way to me shortly planed on all faces to the external dimensions of the attached images files.
Complete
Body
Top
Thanks very much,
Sam

Thanks for the quick reply. I have ordered planed all around walnut to 160x100x37mm and 150x90x5mm, the same size as the CAD.
I'm in Devizes/can be around Uxbridge/can be around Northampton.

Off topic slightly, where do you find walnut, maple etc in the UK?
Thanks

Look for a local wood turners supplier. They usually stock various timber blanks. Some saw mills deal in exotics and hard woods as well.
I have a few hundred quids worth of timber blanks in my shed for wood turning although I havent done any for years now. Cant decide whether to keep the lathe or sell it.
Strangest thing I turned was a grass root blank or maybe a banksia nut, you get furry tools and lathe with that one. Fun though.

As it so happens I have just started on prototyping some wooden cases for the Objective 2 headphone amp .. and just so happens in American Dark Walnut, however i dont as "yet" have the z travel to do the front holes and so doing them with a pillar drill next. I can supply them as in the pictures if someone wants to do the faces , I'm even considering adding some relief work to them in my own strange style lol sorry just understood the thread ... forget what i have said ..sorry

Ah snap! Nice amp isn't it? I just wanted to get away from the standard extruded enclosure. Would like to keep a look out for what you do with yours.
Thanks Joe - pinched a lot of the look of it from the Monome so shouldn't take too much credit! I'm at uni at the moment studying Product Design so got a few projects.
