Hi there,

This is my first post so apologies if it's not in the right place.

I would like to fit a 11mm id x 5 od x 5W bearing into a 11mm ish hole in brass. I am looking for an interference fit and intend to use a press or a vice to fit the bearing.

The question is what size reamer to use?

As far as i can figure out i should be looking at 0.0127mm to 0.0203mm (0.0005 to 0.0008") for clearance. So I am thinking of drilling to 10.9mm then using either a 10.99mm or 10.98mm reamer, all on a lathe.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mark.

You'd have to use a machine reamer and would be lucky to get the fit you want. I'd bore the hole myself and use bearing lock rather than a press fit.
