Actually it looks worse then it is. I won't be stripping it down completely (unless I find something very wrong) just cleaning off the congealed coolant and wire-brushing off the rust.
The biggest pain (or expense) is that the four/or five change-wheel gears are missing. Even before I discovered this I had been thinking about an electronic leadscrew idea (i.e. using a servo motor to drive the lead screw phase locked to the spindle - like the latest/last model HLV's) to cut metric and english threads.
Next job is getting the thing (it weighs the better part of 3/4 tonne) off the trailer and into the garage - Time to think like an Egyption.
Wish I had the space for something that big!

I'm having to juggle things around to find room. My Ducati (motorcycle) going to have to go in the conservatory (not a universally popular move around here!) . I can't sell or move my little southbend 416 yet 'cos I may need it to fix the HLV!

Anyone have (or know of) a manual for a Sony Magnescale LH-10 DRO ?
Or even just a clear picture of the front panel? I'm trying to work out what the buttons do, but since I can't read the legends it almost impossible. I'll make a new overlay for the buttons once I've worked out what they do.
