Have been trying for a couple of days to convert this jpg Logo to an stl file using online software but not having much luck in creating anything of use. Can someone suggest a converter that works without learning a whole new program, I am too old for that :distress:

While there are plenty of programs that convert the various shades of gray to different heights, this really doesn't work well with normal photos or drawings.

Estlcam works Ok with it and I will try and find time to try it tomorrow, Estlcam estimates 16 hrs
If not too cheeky and stressfull, would it be possible to increase the depth a little and remove the random stars that surround it
You can download Cura for free and it is fairly easy to use. I would use a photo editor to remove the stars on the jpg and then load it into cura with the lighter is higher option. You can then resize it - I don't know how big you want the end result, but the one I did just fits on my 3D printer.

Thanks again, I did download Cura but it only seems to run on 64bit computers as does Fusion, I am only running 32 bit and am reluctant to change as my Acad 14 does not run on 64 bit.
I can fudge it a bit by changing the Z scale on my mill and I can sand off the pimples, the pimples do add quite a bit to machining time.
The scale is perfect for me, I am not in any hurry so if you can help when you have spare time would be great. I will see if I can remove the pimples/stars in paint.

The mystery pimples are single white pixels, which are difficult to see. I have blacked off the major stars with 'Paint' but the little ones are everywhere.
If you want to improve the doctored version and send it to me, then it only takes a couple of minutes to convert it.

I did or thought I did remove quite a lot of pixels in my clean version, I wonder if the jpg format remembers them for undo purposes.
Have had another session with paint, couldn't find any more pixels but used the flood option to see if that worked - Alien- clean mk2
Also had a look with Irfanview @ 40 x zoom and couldn't see any, Alien-clean mk3
That one seems to have done the trick, machining time ~5hrs instead of 20, will cut one asap :eagerness:

Have cut a half size one, for machining time reasons, and it looks very good. Full size one will be better for the smaller detail, I used a 1.5mm ball nose which was a bit big for the fine detail.

Many thanks to Rob, has printed a logo for me, has much better detail than I could have carved :yahoo:
Used plenty of laquer to glue the print to the wood, gives it lot of sparkle in the sunlight
Glad to help. I expected it to be sprayed gold, but shiny wet-look black is more in keeping with the original.
