  1. Re: NEMA34 motor selection for Bridgeport Series 1 CNC

I'd probably go for the 1100oz-in steppers, as the lower inductance should give better performance.

50V may end up a bit too close to max voltage. You have to remember the 50VAC is at rated load,...
  2. Re: Longs 3 axis CNC kits - are they suitable for Bridgeport Series 1 conversion?

with stepper drivers like the dm860a that has its own input opto-isolators
    24997

you don't need a breakout board with output opto-isolators like this supplied in the kit-
    25001

    these two...
  3. Re: Longs 3 axis CNC kits - are they suitable for Bridgeport Series 1 conversion?

I am obliged for this answer as I have a Longs 3 axis kit for my tiny hobby router.I was hugely pleased just to get it moving and anticipate a series of upgrades.I liked the idea of opto-isolators as...
  4. Re: Longs 3 axis CNC kits - are they suitable for Bridgeport Series 1 conversion?

a rule of thumb from Geckodrive .com is the supply voltage to the driver is
32 times the square root of the motors inductance in milli henry

the higher the inductance the greater the voltage...
