    Re: Workshop & Noise Help

I'm just off J25, M1 and don't mind firing my router up but in all fairness it's only a small Isel with 300 x 300 bed and air cooled high speed spindle

    Re: Workshop & Noise Help

Maybe you could ask if any member on the forum who is nearish to you would mind you paying them a visit which would give you a better idea about noise levels.

    Re: Workshop & Noise Help

Two main areas of noise on a CNC router is the spindle and the actual cutting.
Spindle can be helped by using the high speed spindles that many fit here, usually the water cooled versions. A router...
  4. Re: Hello eveyone, newie with a spindle and nothing else

If your other half has access to a large cnc and can cut most of your parts then you are in a good position to build your own.

It will take sustained effort and a good bit of time but it’s not as...
  5. Re: Cutting wooden letters and shapes - purchase help for a newbie please!

I think you should seriously consider a machine big enough to cut a reasonable number of letters from one sheet since, unless cutting letters from identically sized pieces is the sole purpose of the...

Work area - is it big enough for...
  8. Re: Cutting wooden letters and shapes - purchase help for a newbie please!

Have to keep an eye out on eBay... there are several new for under £1000 with a 200 x 300mm work area (3020T) or 275 x 385 (3040T), but it might still be worth shelling out for an A3 or A2 size unit....
  9. Re: Cutting wooden letters and shapes - purchase help for a newbie please!

ok, simple trial ROI test... I know nothing about your business or your profit margins etc so this is just some crude back of envelope working... but it serves to show that the CNC is a viable profit...
  10. Re: Cutting wooden letters and shapes - purchase help for a newbie please!

Perfect sense... and a good application of CNC. Sounds like you have a good fledgling (or maybe even more so) business there and doing OK seemingly even with the recession. Clearly with more...
  11. Re: Cutting wooden letters and shapes - purchase help for a newbie please!

My take on that would be that if the business takes off it'll quickly justify the bigger machine in its own right. That doesn't mean the smaller machine is redundant, far from it; anyone here that...
  12. Re: Cutting wooden letters and shapes - purchase help for a newbie please!

    Was that 10 a week or 100 a week?

If the letters are 6"/150mm high on 11mm MDF and you are talking abut low run rates then if you started with a small blank precut say 170mm x 170mm you'd get 98...
  13. Re: Cutting wooden letters and shapes - purchase help for a newbie please!

What size sheet material do you want to start with.? Larger the size the more the machine will cost.

Forget cutting stone with the same machine it's a completely different machine and cutting...
