Generally, use the smallest diameter screw that will do the job. In this case, doing the kind of back of envelope sanity check I like to do:
Target max Z speed = 2000mm/min. You probably don't... -

For a Z axis it's more about holding force over speed. The shallower pitch will almost certainly deliver as much Z speed as you need whilst requiring less holding torque.

kerosene (28 Sec) is readily available all year long if you ring a fuel supplier I used to run my steam cleaning machine on it it's was cheaper than red.
I remember you could buy it in B&Q for £4... -

The better A. is that it depends.
By mass the alu is 3x less rigid - and importantly it likes to ring and vibrate.
But when you get the same mass in alu, it is thicker, and thickness scales pwr 3... -

Would depend on the aluminium alloy to some extent but Youngs modulus of steel is roughly 3x that of Aluminium.
