Too true
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hig-...796651547.html
looking at this on alixpress when I build another one (I want 8*4 capability) I think I should just use these all round at this sort of price unless I'm particularly lucky with the next machine that comes in.
I was thinking the best thing to do with the supported rail is to use it until it becomes an issue then keep the rail and bearings for a table saw slide to make cutting 8*4 a joy.
Although I want at least one axis to have 3m rails.
So going to cost a £1000 by the time the import tax man has his fingers in the tills lol.1Last edited by Desertboy; 16-05-2017 at 06:50 AM.

So I wish to upgrade from my Kress motor and I'm wondering if the spindle that started this thread is the way to go?
Advice please.

That's the one if your machine can carry it. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-2KW-WAT...c=1&rmvSB=true

OK, rightly or wrongly I've just ordered one of these spindles from Germany.
So now I need to:
- Source a bracket - recommendations please -?
- Learn how to configure and operate the spindle - I'm sure there's an article or 2 on this site somewhere - ?
- Absorb recommendations etc from folks who have such a device - ?
Hoping folks can point me in the right direction.

That's the one I have
Something like this is good
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/80-100mm-...QXW0C2j_rVrnVg
Mine took about 10 working days to arrive.
If you wire it to the BOB to control speed and turn on/off then there's not a lot to setup on the VFD I haven't done this yet so control the speed from the VFD but it makes more sense to wire it to the BOB.
The manual is confusing but there's a great thread on cnczone about how to use the vfd and all the info you need is in the manual just in Chinglish.Last edited by Desertboy; 03-05-2018 at 10:50 AM.

Thanks - bracket ordered from ebay (There's many sources of 80mm bracket on ebay I now realise)
This is the in-forum set-up article I was originally looking for.
Just need the spindle to arrive now.
Now onto appropriate collet sets ...

Could someone recommend a cost-effective ER20 collect set appropriate for a Chinese spindle.
Had a look on the Internet but I'm confused about the vast range in prices and therefore don't know how to choose an appropriate set. In shorty, I don't know how to grade/judge ER collects.
Thanks.

You can also fit a pot on the front panel to control the speed http://www.mycncuk.com/threads/7388-...se-Spindle-VFD
