Re: Help needed to connect my VFD to the AXBB controller
Nope, that diagram shows the analogue output AO1 referenced to 5V0, so you need to connect 5V0 to ACM (which I believe you said you already did). (or connect 5V0 and 24V0 together).
You could try... -

Charlie,
When you do look at the cooling I found that using larger diameter water pipe greatly inreased the water flow from the pump I bought. The spindle fittings take 5mm id pipe but I get double... -

That looks like it is similar to the one I linked to. 1.5mm is more that enough but make sure that you securely clamp the cable to the Z axis so that there is no strain on the plug as if the plug...

5mm distance from the hard stop will function fine as the motors stop very quickly. If it was a home switch you might want a bit more as the machine over travels a bit.
Only thing to think about is... -

Re: Opto isolator question
you should be able to connect the BOB directly to the FET
25991
the 2N7000 would be an alternative FET in a smaller TO92 case

Re: Opto isolator question
going by figure 6 on page 5 of the pdf data
I would aim for a minimum of 5V
while the absolute maximum ratings for Vgs is +/- 30V
I would limit the maximum to about 20 V
