Joe, that's one mighty fine looking CNC machine, I've enjoyed the build so far and now looking forward to seeing the first chips flying in the not too distant future!!

The switch mode ones don't take back EMF from the drivers when the machine is decelerating. If you make a linear PSU with some nice big caps then this is best, and you can make it to the ideal...

I love machining Acetal, it chips beautifully gives a nice smooth finish. Cant comment on the Ting G controller but if this is potentially for business then I'd build your own control panel, make...

Best way is to do what you've done, try...ask...listen then try again, ultimately only you'll know what works for your machine best which you'll find by trial and error. You'll snap bits, ruin work...

Put a cyclone in before the CamVac (just because I had it rather than need it) and its brilliant!! Takes out about 95% (guess) of all crap, fine dust as well....

Just read your post again Jo and see your dilemma, clamp 2 bits of 3"x2" wood together and drill a 14mm hole or largest drill bit you have nearest that size if not got that size, equi spaced through...

In fairness to the OP he did say that the Chinese forgot to do the thread when they machined the ballscrew....he's just trying to fix it as cheaply as possible with the tools he has 😊
