i got my pump on ebay for a fiver. its a whale caravn pump, 12v so you can run it from the computer psu aswell

I use, and suggested people use one of those, for quite a long time but mine died after several months. It turns out they are only rated for a 25% duty cycle (i.e. 15 mins on, 60min off) which implies it's going to break at some point if you run it constantly for the spindle.

Ouch!! Not good for a water cooled spindle. I would have thought that a submerged self cooling pump would probably be best. Or pond pump as you say.
