    Does anyone know the best place to get the acrylic ?... what's the acrylic described as here in the UK... do I just ask/search cast acrylic ?

    Yes, and then talk to prospective suppliers, I use Direct Plastics for Nylon Sheet and Nylon Rod and their people are very helpful and very pleasantly BS-Lite, it might be worth looking at their web site or giving them a call and asking if they stock what you need.
    You think that's too expensive? You're not a Model Engineer are you? :D
