No, I don't believe that you will burn out the driver making these connections. Even with the error in my first post, you would not do any harm, although it would not work. These drivers are more likely to be damaged by what you connect to the other terminals, and the recommendation is to keep well below the maximum voltages that are given in the data sheet. The data sheet gives a maximum of 48V but you are probably safer to use 36V or less. I have run one of these drivers off a 24V supply without problems although I was not driving a large motor.

As Neale has stated re the top voltage to use but also do not connect or disconnect the motors while the drive is powered with the 36V as this will burn the drive up.
