I have looked into that business, when i hacked my alloy wheels and there was nobody around to straighten it. With the above said, i can repair any repairable alloy wheel problem.

I was hoping for some constructive feedback. I know when an alloy is mullered it needs all of that equipment but I would not drive on them afterwards.

I am looking for a cnc lathe to skim the surface of an alloy to remove slight kerb damage to a polished surface. There are many available to the manufacturing industry but they are all 2000/5000 kg there are some small ones at silly money because there very rare. Anyone making a unit around 500 to 1000kg is on to a fortune in the aftermarket business.

Can I have some credible comments please.

Hello Ian, welcome to the forum!

If you are already looking at the Chinese cnc machines, why don't you put some links here so we can give you advice on specific machines.

I see that most of them are cnc lathes but I found also router style with a rotating base like this one.

I could not help but laugh at that funny video. They should have rectified the wheel, then put it on the lathe. It looks more like an egg than a wheel. And yeah, thats why they have disabled their comments, as even a blind person can see that. And " get in touch for the price" from their web normally means more than 10-15k, which is not a real price for that machine.

I wouldn't pay 10k on top of price of a machine, just for my inability to scan a wheel with a probe and then program it. But thats me

I would trust more a Russian to make a machine for me, not a Chinese

At least he says he uses Hiwin High Precision series rails and upgraded bearings for the lathe head. As you can see Mach3 and some programming does perfectly the job

Have you spoken to the Russian guy from the video above? What does he want for the machine?

If you are not happy to pay a lot of money in Europe, i could outsource you a machine from China, i have agent there and serious people that i work with. PM me and see if we can arrange something

You could buy it yourself from China as a cheapest solution, but if you don't know a thing about CNC or just don't know enough, i would greatly recommend not to do so, as many chinese machines are just copy of the copy... Not to speak of that many Chinese will not pay you any attention at all or will put to test your nervous system. Saving a commission could result in a serious mistake. Just saying.

Another thing is how heavy it could be? You will need some serious reinforcing of the van or so. And a good van for it. What's your limit?

Mechanically i can design the machine and build it and ship it to you. Absolutely no idea how to do the scanning but when you have the money to pay, it should be very easy to find somebody to do the job.

You should be realistic though, i see here the need of servo motors, good controller, precision rails and so on for the final result to be perfect finish. The lathe head part could be simplified but very big bearings are a must there, cause this will always try to oscillate. As the russian guy noted, he had to upgrade the bearings for better finish.

It's almost like what you are needing is a converted vertical boring mill but at the size you need will probably break the suspension on your vehicle.
