    BUILD LOG: Re: BuildingAfloat

    Geoff,

Re: Strike CNC (My first CNC router)

Every time you increase microsteps you loose torque.
There is no advantage in going above 8 and you only have to do the setup once.

I disagree with this strongly. it looks a nice machine, well made and made in the UK so higher costs.
There is a limit where a manufacturer can throw in all the bells and whistles and still make a...

It could also be missing steps because the Z axis is too weak / tight or trying to move too fast.

No good insisting that 'THIS' is the standard if your machine can't handle it.

Taking it from the beginning you need CAD, then CAM, then a controller for a CNC machine.
Cad you know about, CAM is a program like Cut3D which turns the drawing into G code which is just a text...

Easy, --total number of step / pitch

    In you case for the 16 x 2 axis that 1600 / 2 so set to 800

    For the 12 x 1.75 that's 1600 / 1.75 so set to 914.2857

RFQ: Re: RFQ - custom 43mm spindle mount

19mm or 3/4" would be fine, there,s nothing there in the extra 6mm or 1/4" that will add anything to the design.
  18. Re: Design help etc required with DIY CNC Router Design / Build
