Re: Driver & Driven
It all depends what gear ratios you want to achieve. Generally speaking, a direct drive system would use either Oldham Couplings or drive pulleys of the same diameter. For increased torque and slower...

Re: Looking for advice on budget machine for watchmaking
I'm afraid that as precision increases, so does the cost. I wouldn't look at anything less than a closed-loop drive system...ideally go for Servo drives rather than stepper motors. The main issue...

Re: Mach3 vs Mach4
Obviously the OS is more important than the software. If the OS is unstable or unreliable, then we can't expect any software to be stable. But yes, at the end of the day all we need is a CNC...

Re: Mach3 vs Mach4
Well, my experience with the LinuxCNC forums is that they've always been helpful and quick to respond. Most of the developers actually run CNC machines, so understand hardware as well as software. I...

In addition to this, particularly if buying from eBay, make yourself familiar with what's in the the "machine tool sets". Some sellers start off with these but sell the contents individually to make...

Is this for counterboring caphead bolts? If so, why not use a proper counterbore?

I'm dithering about with a Warco WM16 mill which I plan to convert to CNC but was planning on leaving the standard lead screws in and seeing how it performs. If it turns out to be crap, then I'll...
