I personally would go with the pulley and htd belt as that can help stop resonance.

Not sure if you have seen this conversion with Linuxcnc and a P/port
The 125 has to be able to reverse the spindle depending on the tool used
For threading it need a slotted disc with index

All the resistor does is limit the current to about 12 to 15mA at 24V going through the led

Michael 2 people can easily lift 100 kg as you say just move the gantry to the centre and lower the spindle to a block on the bed .
If the control box is solid wired you might be able to put that... -
