Re: ATC Spindles air connections inquiry

Air return may be just what it says. Just a hose so the air blows out somewhere aside, not in the Z assembly, when change happens. So i think its connected to nothing but a loose hose.

    The...

Re: ATC Spindles air connections inquiry

Do you have a link to the spindle in question?

My guess would be some kind of vent line.

    Re: preventing coolant evaporation

They use plastic beads for oil based coolants because there's nothing else you can float on top but if you are using water you could use an oil to prevent evaporation, take your pick!

    Re: preventing coolant evaporation

The only issue would be if the plastic reacts with the coolant, however the worst that's likely to happen is the plastic becomes brittle/discoloured.

Is the evaporation really a problem worth...
  6. Re: Construction Idea Discussion: Large Steel tubes + non shrink grout = win?

    Hi Noplace,

You can weld large tubes together although you need to manage the distortion. Large tubes cost proportionately more so budget is the main 'feasibility' limit. Larger tubes are...

Re: help needed boring 8mm holes 20mm depth in Alu

You need to get chips out the hole, and lubrication in.
Without either of those, it's not going to end well in deep holes!
  9. Re: help needed boring 8mm holes 20mm depth in Alu

I use lots of air to clear chips and a bit of WD40 now and then to stop the chips sticking to the cutter BTW
  10. Re: help needed boring 8mm holes 20mm depth in Alu

Try a single flute cutter, I've had excellent results with 2mm, 1/8" and 6mm single flute cutters in aluminium alloys.
  11. Re: How much weight can 3.1NM motor lift? (as in Z axis)

~ hundred kilos so don't worry about that. Though depends on what voltage drive your motors and acceleration desired.

But safely 30 kg should not be a problem

    Re: VFD for drill press

As Magicniner has said, these VFDs take single-phase in and produce a 3-phase output that is designed to drive a 3-phase motor. Why can't you just use two of the output connections and drive a...

BUILD LOG: Re: New Build 1000x600x200mm (newbie)

Neil is correct, problem with creat is it can become brittle and brake up/crack, when that happens you end up with "lose" in your tubes and so on.

We used to call it silver sand back in my...

  23. Re: Need assistance with electric enclosure please (CSMIO/AC Contactor issue)

Use a separate Relay and have the VFD fault Signal turn it on when goes active. Run the E-stop signal thru NO contact.
  24. Re: Need assistance with electric enclosure please (CSMIO/AC Contactor issue)

Ok Dean thanks as they say RTFM
  25. Re: Need assistance with electric enclosure please (CSMIO/AC Contactor issue)

Simple Change the Contactor to DC type.

Clive the way the Cslabs units works to keep complete isolation the manual advises using separate power supply for I/O. SO that's probably why.?
