I have used off the shelf solvent type of adhesive and also stuff that cured with UV light. I'm no professional, but they seemed to be pretty good optically where I didn't have air bubbles
Is chloroform the best thing to use?
Anyway, if it doesn't work it'll get you to sleep of an evening without having to count sheep !!
Cheers Will

I got that impression from my mate Bob. Bob spent his days pickling bits of people and putting them in plastic pots, he occasionally had to re-pot historic bits of people because everything in his care was spick and span. I got the impression that there was not a lot Bob didn't know about gluing Perspex. His tools were a saw and a belt sander but you would never have guessed it from the pots.

One of my Sixth-Form Physics teachers spent a double period gluing his Hillman Avenger rear lamp back together with Chloroform, he did dissolve a little perspex in it before use but didn't explain why, you were hard pressed to see the joins after he polished it.
I bought a bottle of Perspex-specific adhesive off eBay a couple of months ago, it's mainly a vile solvent with, I'm guessing, a little perspex dissolved in it?You think that's too expensive? You're not a Model Engineer are you? :D
