Re: 5 axis breakout board and UC400eth query

    The UC400ETh requires a 12V-24V supply, not a 5V supply.

Re: Help please on DM542T Stepper Drivers

    Looks sensible to me.

This is just setting the microstepping factor - it doesn't really matter which you select, they'll all fundamentally work, but the higher the setting the smoother your...

    Re: Control box rebuild

    Hi There,

Nice looking box and work - Some ideas

1.) Fans - Try not have the fans on the same surface as the air will just go in and out across that surface you would want the air to go across...

    Re: Control box rebuild

I was talking to a guy who does control electronics for a living and he suggested twisted pair on all data cables inside an enclosure as a better option to shielded.
Logical when you think about it...

    Re: Control box rebuild

assuming you are using mach 3

I expect in ports and pins you have

    X axis step = pin 2 , direction= pin 3

    Y axis step = pin 4, direction = pin 5

    Z axis step= pin 6 , direction= pin 7

To some, this comment may seem little condescending coming from a bunch of electrical geeks just trying to show off.!! However, A_Camera is making a very valid point because Terminology is very...

Re: Which power supply to use

Yes, it does. Any voltage, from 12V through 24V DC, according to the manual, and with a current rating between 500mA and 250mA (Multiply the voltage and the current to get the power requirement, e.g....

Re: Which power supply to use

Looking at the UC400ETH manual, and having examined my UC300ETH/5LPT closely, I'm going to suggest the following:-

Background info: The UC400ETH has a small DC-DC convertor to take the incoming...

Re: 3 quick questions in regards to controller

    1) EMC filter. Helps stop noise escaping from the control box into the mains supply, and also stops noise coming into the control box from the mains.
    2) It's a bit tight, but I've see far tighter....
  12. Re: Where is the fountain of knowledge for learning about CNC setups / understanding

Good. At least we know that the mechanics are OK. Now change the pulse width to 10. If that doesn't help KEEP it there and change speed to something really low, like 500. If that is still an issue...
  13. Re: Where is the fountain of knowledge for learning about CNC setups / understanding

Just checked, and I should of said get TB6600 drivers if you do replace them.
TB6560 is the older chip, whereas the TB6600 is newer, far more resilient, and has better performance.

    Which has also...
  14. Re: Where is the fountain of knowledge for learning about CNC setups / understanding

Going by the picture, K1 and K2 set the microsteps.
K3 and K4 set standby current.
And the SW set motor current.

If the new computer has made no difference, then that should rule that out.
    ...
  15. Re: Where is the fountain of knowledge for learning about CNC setups / understanding

Ok, so you have 5mm ball screws.

Now the Sw1 SW2 SW3 set the current range for the drives which must match or be just less than the motors rating. This setting can be set above the motors rating...
  16. Re: Where is the fountain of knowledge for learning about CNC setups / understanding

Suggest you take step back from messing and changing settings etc until you know 100% what you have. Just because the box looks the same doesn't mean whats inside is the same. These chinese things...

  20. Re: Where is the fountain of knowledge for learning about CNC setups / understanding

The high pitched noise is the motor stalling.

Stepper motors rely on their windings being energised in order. If you overload the motor mechanically, rather than the motor spinning smoothly, it...
  21. Re: Where is the fountain of knowledge for learning about CNC setups / understanding

Try a Google search for "mach3 settings explained". There are plenty of sources of info there, and different people prefer different ways of explaining things, so take a browse through what's on...
  22. Re: Where is the fountain of knowledge for learning about CNC setups / understanding

I'm guessing from the Mach3 settings that you have 5mm lead ballscrews with 8x microstepping in the stepper drivers. That explains the "320 steps per unit" in the motor tuning page. That's about...

Re: Help please on physical setup between 6040 and PC

As Magicniner says - and the plugin needed for Mach3 is probably the "USB connector software" you mention. Can you list what is on the CD/memory stick/whatever? It's very likely that you have...
