at the end of the day, you're going to cnc a manual mill for what reason. You want an accurate computer controlled milling machine that will cut metals from ally to probably steel.

you can use the existing drives, steppers, psu, spindle drive, relays and add mach to them. Or you can replace everything, it's your choice.

I take it you're going to replace the bearing clamp nut with a thread in the pulley. If so you'll need a more positive location for the pulley, one grub screw just won't be enough. Possibly a pin...

things to consider on ballscrews over leadscrews are, better power transfer on a ballscrew, greater accuracy, zero backlash, trouble free maintenance.

you could for reference go into the original config screens and print a copy of them just in case the xml didn't configure correctly, at least then you would have a record of each setting.
